Singita Boulders

The Stand Alone Epitome of Luxury African Safari Experiences

I am certain that if the word “Singita” were added to the Oxford dictionary, its definition would be “the stand alone epitome of luxury African safari experiences”.

Staying at a Singita property, as I have had the great fortune of doing a few times, is a very hard thing to do justice to in words and I will do my best but speaking of fortune, I am truly lucky that my family have all inherited my deep passion for Africa’s natural heritage, so the opulence of a Singita experience apart, just the sheer joy of being in the bush and feeling it through the eyes of my children is always something I will forever cherish. When this relentless excitement is coupled with a stay with Africa’s stand alone safari operator, one knows this is a superb recipe for creating memories of a lifetime.

Singita Boulders is one of three properties that lie in Singita Sabi Sands. A beautifully appointed 12 contemporary room lodge, the Singita team have done a flawless job at blending the feeling of being fully immersed in nature with superb finishing, elegance and comfort that touches every aspect of the property.

Maddie and I managed to snatch a little adult time and decided to head down to the wine cellar with the lodges inhouse sommelier, no sooner than we had resurfaced after making our way through numerous superb South African wines we were confronted with a large male leopard, making his way nonchalantly through the reception and onto the pool where he had a quick drink before disappearing into the bush. We saw him kill a bushbuck from the breakfast table the next day but blurred lines between extraordinary hospitality and a very powerful, beautiful wild animal going about its daily life, in such proximity to the other is an experience that money simply cannot buy.

The Sabi Sands is recognised the world over for its stunning game viewing but really what set our experience apart and I believe this is what sets Singita apart, was the quality of the people who looked after us. Our guide Mark, a local legend, was exceptional with our children, blending profound wisdom with limitless energy and enthusiasm, a potent cocktail for a good time when it comes to keeping children engaged. Everywhere we went and everything we did, nothing was too much, the staff simply bent over backwards at every opportunity to go above and beyond in making sure our entire experience was everything we could ever hope for.

And so, despite staying in an impossibly beautiful lodge, with impossibly tasty food and wine and some of the best game viewing accessible anywhere on Earth, it was the culture of graciousness Singita have instilled that makes every guest feel like they are the only people on Earth which quite simply, places Singita in a class of their own.
